Navajo Businesses Face Uphill Battle During Pandemic

There are many Navajo businesses who are being negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. They face closures and minimal operational hours to keep their business afloat. Navajo businesses who also employ those around the community are cutting hours and jobs due to their inability to pay their salaries. With the Payroll Protection Program (PPP), most Navajo businesses will qualify for those relief funds. Germaine Simonson, who owns Rocky Ridge Gas + Market in Kykotsmovi Village, AZ was able to apply and her three businesses that she owns qualified for the PPP Loan, which is forgivable if all funds are used accordingly.
